Double Fatal Head-On Crash: 24-Year-Old From Region One Of Victims

State police are seeking witnesses to a double fatal crash that killed an area man.
The crash took place in Sullivan County, around 3:45 p.m., Monday, March 27, near Liberty on Route 97, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
A preliminary investigation revealed a 2008 Audi A4, driven by James Card, age 34, from Beach Lake, Pennsylvania was traveling southbound when it was involved in a head-on collision with a 2020 Hyundai Elantra traveling northbound, driven by Sullivan County resident Edward Sykes, age 24, from North Branch, a hamlet of Callicoon.

A brand-new restaurant in the region is preparing to celebrate its grand opening.
Sullivan County eatery Logan's Bar & Grille, located at 64 North Main Street in Liberty, is set to hold a grand opening and ribbon-cutting event at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, the Greater Liberty Chamber of Commerce announced.
The restaurant had its soft opening on Wednesday, Aug. 24.
Logan's Bar & Grille's menu features classic bar fare, such as burgers, fries, onion rings, Buffalo wings, and heroes, along with dinner specials.

Man Accused Of Helping His Wife Die By Suicide In Region
A man from the area has been arrested and charged with manslaughter for allegedly helping his wife commit suicide.
Sullivan County resident Kenneth Alger III, age 38, of Liberty, was arrested in March after his wife's body was found in a cemetery in Liberty.
Alger was indicted by a grand jury for manslaughter that alleged around Tuesday, Feb. 28, he intentionally "caused and aided Amanda Alger, age 31, his wife, to commit suicide," the indictment said.

Area Murder Victim Was A Musician Who Enjoyed Hiking, Fishing
A visitation is planned for an area musician and tattoo artist who was murdered earlier this week in the region.
Sullivan County resident Michael A. Hankins, age 29, of Woodridge, was killed on Tuesday, Jan. 11 in Shawangunk in Ulster County, said the New York State Police.
Walter D. Post Jr, age 26, of Shawangunk, was arrested and charged with Hankins murder, state police said.
