Social Media Post Leads To Lockout Of Hudson Valley School
A social media threat of violence has led to the lockout of a Hudson Valley school. The incident occurred in Orange County early Thursday, Sept. 19, in Chester. According to Chester Police Chief Daniel Doellinger, officers responded to the Chester Academy after a student reported having seen a threat of violence posted on social media. A fugitive wanted in Westchester is now in custody after leaving the scene of a car crash and leading authorities on a chase through a wooded area in the Hudson Valley, police said. The incident leading to the man's arrest happened on Saturday, Aug. 5 just before 5:30 p.m., when Dutchess County sheriff's deputies responded to a reported car crash and order of protection violation in LaGrange in the area of Noxon Road and Budd Lane. Hoax Bomb Threat In Capital District Under Investigation
A 911 call reporting an armed man with pipe bombs in the Capital District was all just a hoax, police said. Officers were called shortly after noon Monday, Aug. 15 following reports of a man who allegedly had a gun and had placed two pipe bombs in Schenectady near Webster Street and 7th Avenue. Responding officers blocked off the surrounding area and evacuated several nearby homes out of precaution, Schenectady Police said. K9 Officer Helps Catch Teen Car-Theft Suspect On I-84
A State Police K9 helped troopers nab a suspected car thief after he helped track down the man as he ran following a pursuit that ended with his tires flattened by stop sticks. The incident took place around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when state police received a report of a stolen car in Danbury. Troopers were able to quickly track down the 2017 Honda Pilot as it passed Exit 14 on I-84, according to a state police report. The Putnam County Sheriff's Department is mourning the death this week of its dedicated, highly-successful K9 officer named Duncan. In 2016, K9 Duncan retired from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. She was 10-years-old and served at the Sheriff’s Department as a certified patrol, tracking and narcotics dog for eight years.
