New York State Police say they conducted a traffic stop on a 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage on Interstate 84 in the town of Southeast for a violation on Wednesday, April 3 at around 3:30 p.m. Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Zef Lulgjuraj of the Bronx, was in possession of approximately 4.2 grams of amphetamine pills, according to police. Interstate 84 was backed up for several miles following a wrong-way, head-on crash with injuries in Putnam. The eastbound crash took place around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2 on the Exit 19 (Route 312) ramp in Southeast, said the New York State Police. Eastbound traffic was backed up to at least Bullet Hole Road until the crash was cleared by around 10 a.m. No information was available regarding the seriousness of the injuries. I-84 Bridge Work Over Route 9W Starts Work is underway on an extensive, multi-million dollar project to rehabilitate the Interstate 84 bridge over Route 9W in Newburgh. The $14.7 million project will raise the height of the overpass from 14 to 16 feet at the interchange. The funding was awarded by the New York State Bridge Authority in late February.
