When it comes to President Biden’s sweeping plan to forgive thousands of dollars in federal student loans, a majority of New Yorkers support the move, according to a fresh Siena College poll. The poll found that by 56 to 33 percent, New Yorkers supported the plan, which would forgive up to $20,000 in debt for those who received Pell Grants with loans held by the Department of Education. A newly released poll found that many Americans would support their home states seceding from the United States and going at it on their own. A significant number of Americans believe that violence may be necessary to improve national politics and policies, according to a new study. On Thursday, Feb. 10, the American Survey Center revealed that nearly one-third of Americans (29 percent) agreed with the statement “If elected leaders will not protect America, the people must do it themselves even if it requires taking violent actions.” Nearly 70 percent of Americans rejected violence as a means to political ends, according to the survey. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s deft handling of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has drawn positive reviews and led to record-high approval ratings, including among Republicans, according to a new poll by the Siena College Research Institute. Cuomo’s favorability rating has risen to 77 percent, up from 71 percent last month, which marks his highest ever rating, which he last hit in February 2011. New Yorkers are in favor of impeaching and then removing President Donald Trump from office, according to a new Siena poll. The poll found that New Yorkers support impeachment by the House of Representatives and removal by the Senate by a 55 percent to 38 percent margin.
