The first person charged in a major drug trafficking ring in the Capital Region and Dutchess County, busted last year and included 25 people, has been sentenced to prison.
New York Attorney General Letitia James announced on Tuesday, Oct. 29, the convictions of members of the major drug trafficking ring that distributed heroin and fentanyl, as well as powder and crack cocaine in Albany, Dutchess, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties.

Two people, including a Fairfield County resident, face charges after they were caught with heroin, cocaine, and prescription medication in the Hudson Valley during a suspected drug deal, police said.

An alleged Hudson Valley drug dealer was nabbed with two kilos of cocaine and heroin during a bust by an area Drug Task Force.
Rockland County resident Darryl Wright, age 41, of Pearl River, was charged on Thursday, Oct. 24, with criminal possession of a controlled substance, said Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh.

A major Hudson Valley drug trafficker pleaded guilty to selling drugs and is expected to spend up to 13 years in prison.
Orang County resident Andrew Mitchell, aka "Loc," age 49, of Chester, pleaded on Friday, Sept. 27.
According to Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler, Mitchell was arrested as a result of an over four-month-long investigation designed to disrupt major narcotics trafficking in the City of Port Jervis and surrounding areas, including Pike County, Pennsylvania.

'Sadness, Anger' After 8 Fatal Drug Overdoses In 8 Days Reported In Capital Region City
Police in the region are sounding the alarm after eight people died from drug overdoses in as many days.
All eight deaths occurred in Schenectady between Saturday, July 1, and Saturday, July 8, according to police.
The most recent occurred in the city’s Stockade neighborhood. An autopsy revealed that the person died from drug intoxication.

A 31-year-old man is facing multiple drug charges following an alleged bust during a traffic stop in the region, authorities said.
Greene County resident Anthony Alford, of Catskill, was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 31, after troopers stopped a pickup truck he was riding in on Water Street in Catskill, according to State Police.
While speaking to both Alford and the truck’s driver, troopers learned that Alford was in possession of a “large amount” of heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine, police said.

Dutchess County resident Allen Peloquin, aka "Ace," age 34, of Poughkeepsie, was taken into custody on Thursday, March 31.
Peloquin was charged with distributing fentanyl-laced heroin that resulted in the death of a woman in Putnam County in Carmel, in Feb. 2020, and a man in Poughkeepsie, in May 2020, said Damian Williams, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

A Northern Westchester man has been arrested for alleged possession of heroin and other drugs during a warrants search.
Michael Mastrantone, age 36, of Peekskill, was arrested following an investigation into drug sales in the area around 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 10 at his home following the search, said Peekskill Police Department Lt. Jack Galusha.
