Authorities are investigating after a bullet was found outside a middle school in the Hudson Valley, prompting the building to enter into a lockdown. The incident happened in Putnam County on Thursday, Feb. 8, when a single bullet was found in a grassy area outside George Fischer Middle School in Carmel just before noon, according to Captain Michael Grossi of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. A former student has been accused of making threats against a current student at a high school in the Hudson Valley. On Thursday, March 23 at approximately 12:30 pm, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into threats made on social media targeting a student at Brewster High School. A school district in the area will be switching over to its distance learning model following a recent spike in COVID-19 cases among students and staff members. Carmel Schools Superintendent Eric Stark announced the shift to remote learning will start on Monday, Dec. 14 for all schools. A man with more than two dozen suspensions on his driver’s license is facing a felony charge after being stopped for a traffic infraction in Putnam County, the Sheriff’s Office announced. $25.5M Carmel School Bond Proposal Voted Down
For the second time in less than a year, Carmel taxpayers defeated a school renovation bond plan, this time worth $25.5 million.Tuesday night's unofficial results were 1,334 votes against the bond issue and 1,192 Carmel residents for it.
