Police in the region are stressing that an alleged gang shooting along a busy roadway was not targeting the Jewish community in any way. The incident took place in Sullivan County around 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 22 in Monticello in the area of Forestburgh Road and Hamilton Road. A preliminary investigation shows that a man driving a vehicle on Forestburgh Road stopped, got out of his car, and exchanged gunfire with another person walking along the shoulder of the northbound lane of the roadway, said Lt. Area Man Charged With Using Knife During Domestic Incident, Police Say
A man from the region was arrested for allegedly threatening a woman with a knife during a domestic violence incident. The incident took place in Sullivan County around 6:50 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 29 in Monticello. Anthony Ronald Torre, age 30, of Monticello was arrested by Monticello Police after police responded to the Sleepy Hollow apartment complex for a dispute that involved a Kabar-style knife, said Lt. Man Nabbed For Commercial Burglaries In Region, Police Say
A man from the region was nabbed by police for the second time for allegedly committing commercial burglaries. Sullivan County resident Justus L. McMoore, age 37 of Monticello, was arrested on Saturday, Oct. 8, according to Monticello PD Lt. Mark Johnstone. McMoore had been previously arrested by Monticello Police on Saturday, Oct. 1, and charged with burglary when officers investigating an activated motion alarm found McMoore in the act of burglarizing a business located on Forestburg road in the Village of Monticello, Johnstone said. Man Arrested For Propositioning Minor For Sex At HS Softball Field In Region, Police Say
A 62-year-old man has been charged for allegedly propositioning a 16-year-old girl for sex at an area ball field. The incident took place in Sullivan County in Monticello on Thursday, July 14, at the Monticello High School ball field. Monticello Police arrested Izchak Krishevsky, age 62, of Brooklyn for patronizing a person for prostitution in a school zone and endangering the welfare of a child, said Lt. Police Probe Whether Separate Shootings Within A Mile Are Related
Police are investigating whether two shootings that occurred about seven hours apart less than a mile apart are related. They happened in Sullivan County on Friday, June 19 during the early afternoon and late evening in the Village of Monticello. The most recent incident occurred about 11 p.m. Friday.
