Hudson Valley Fire Leaves 24 Homeless, Injures 2
At least two residential buildings were destroyed during a two-alarm fire in the Hudson Valley that left 24 people homeless. The incident occurred in Orange County at 11:20 p.m. on Monday, April 8, at 59 and 61 Carter St., in the city of Newburgh. According to Mike Neppl, a spokesman for the Newburgh Fire Department, arriving units found the rear of 59 and 61 Carter Street fully involved with fire, which was spreading to the interior of the buildings. A 4-alarm fire that started at a Hudson Valley home and spread, displaced 33 people, including three infants, and injured three. A massive fire in the Hudson Valley destroyed numerous apartments and left almost 100 people displaced. The blaze broke out in Rockland County around 4 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Surrey Carlton Apartments on Slinn Avenue in Spring Valley. Two people were taken to a trauma center after becoming trapped inside a Northern Westchester residence that caught on fire. An investigation is underway following a fire at a Hudson Valley transfer station. The blaze took place in Orange County around 9:20 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the station located on Training Center Lane in New Hampton.
