Two roommates face assault charges after a verbal dispute over a pet guinea pig on Easter turned violent in the Hudson Valley, police said. The incident happened on Easter Sunday, April 9 around 7:30 p.m., when police responded to a residence in Mahopac for a reported dispute between roommates, according to Carmel Police. The fight involved their pet guinea pig and eventually turned physical when both roommates began assaulting each other. With the holidays approaching, the Hudson Valley continues to see a rise in new COVID-19 infections as the region saw its positive infection rate climb over 3.50 percent after plateauing earlier in 2022.
