Storm Ida: Nine Deaths Now Reported In NY, Recovery Effort Update Gov. Kathy Hochul gave New Yorkers an update on the state's recovery efforts after Tropical Depression Ida carved a destructive path through the region, with record rainfall and nine reported deaths in the state.  Hochul gave the update during a news conference on Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Great Neck Long Island Rail Road station in Nassau County.  Hochul said the Port Washington Line was disrupted and workers and trying to restore the tracks so they'll be safe again.
