3K Foreign Contraband Cigarettes Seized, Destroyed By USPS In NY, Other States: Officials
Around 3,000 packages of foreign contraband cigarettes bound for Connecticut, New York, and other states have been found and destroyed by the US Postal Service since the beginning of the year, officials said. According to Connecticut Attorney General William Tong, the seizures were a result of a settlement between the USPS and several states in August 2022 that forced the Postal Service to destroy untaxed foreign cigarettes instead of returning the illegally-mailed packages back to the sender. Hudson Valley Man Sentenced In Violent Home Invasion, Stabbing
A Hudson Valley man has been sentenced to state prison after pleading guilty to stabbing a woman during a violent home invasion. Orange County resident Jonathan Harris, age 41, of Middletown, was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision for the incident which took place on Saturday, July 16, 2022. New York City Mayor Eric Adams is infected with COVID-19. Adams, age 61, tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, April 10, after he woke up with a raspy voice, according to the mayor's press secretary Fabien Levy. Levy said Adams is not experiencing any other symptoms.
