Longtime Nypd Officer, Attorney From Hudson Valley Dies At Age 56 A beloved former NYPD officer from the Hudson Valley who dedicated much of his life to serving the department in various roles and practicing his faith has died.  Putnam County resident John Welch, of Mahopac, died on Thursday, April 6 at the age of 56, according to his obituary.  Born in the Bronx in 1967, Welch graduated from Mount Saint Michael Academy before earning a bachelor's degree and a law degree from St. John’s University in Queens.  Welch then began a career in law enforcement and joined the NYPD, serving as a police officer for 26 years before being as…
