The veterans will discuss the issue at the next scheduled Board of Education meeting at West Road Intermediate School on March 8 at 7 p.m., The Poughkeepsie Journal reported.
Eleven of the 13 districts in Dutchess County have incorporated the tax break, said The Poughkeepsie Journal.
The tax exemption would give eligible veterans a 15 percent assessment reduction for wartime service and another 10 percent for service in a combat area or having received an Expeditionary Medal, as well for disabilities related to service, The Poughkeepsie Journal reported.
The majority of the Arlington board reportedly has not approved the tax break because exemptions shift the distribution of tax payment, rather than lower it, said The Poughkeepsie Journal.
Veterans want the voters to decide the fate of the exemption in May. The Poughkeepsie Journal reported.
