Shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Friday, state police troopers were dispatched to a rural area of Dover, where they found a vehicle several feet from the roadway, submerged in the pond.
According to police, a SCUBA Unit was required to help extricate the vehicle from the icy water. During the investigation, responding officers located two male occupants in the vehicle, both dead. Their identities are being withheld as police attempt to notify their next of kin.
The collision is currently being investigated by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit. According to police, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors to the collision.
New York State Police were assisted at the scene by Northern Dutchess Paramedics, the Dover Highway Department and Medical Examiner. Anyone who may have information about the crash has been asked to contact the Dover Bureau of Criminal Investigation at (845) 677-7300.
