Brett Mickie, 32, a Cairo resident, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, a Class B Felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B Felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, a Class A Misdemeanor.
John Martin, 50, also a Cairo resident, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell, a Class B Felony, and criminal possession of controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B Felony.
Troopers stopped Martin’s vehicle on the Taconic State Parkway for traveling in excess of the posted speed limit. During the investigation, a hypodermic needle was observed in plain view which led to a vehicle search, police said. In the vehicle, troopers located a large amount of heroin and Clonazepam pills
Mickle and Martin were arraigned before the Town of Pleasant Valley Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
