“Officer Jason Malice was standing post at Lane 8 at 7:15 this morning when he saw the truck approaching,” the Port Authority’s Al Della Fave told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “He saw no EZ-PASS transponder anywhere on the truck as it passed through.”
Malice also noticed that the cab had no front plate, while the rear tag was duct-taped over, Della Fave said.
What’s more, he said, a New York license plate was tacked over the New Jersey tag on the back of the trailer.
Trailer of Two Angels truck that evaded GWB toll
Stephen Taciak, 36, of Metuchen, is charged with theft and tampering with public records.
Both the tractor and trailer are registered to a company called Two Angels Trucking, identified as a “top violator that was poised to appear on our ‘Wall of Shame’,” Della Fave said.
This morning’s incident added 47 violations worth $5,325 in fines to the company’s current total of 94 — 14 at the GWB, twice at the Goethals Bridge and a whopping 78 at the Lincoln Tunnel.
In today’s case, it wasn’t that Taciak couldn’t pay, Della Fave added: He was carrying $866 in cash.
