Motorcyclist accused of trying to use brother’s ID to duck GWB unpaid tolls, drug charges

BEYOND BERGEN: A South Jersey man slipped from Port Authority police when he gave them his brother’s ID after they stopped him for ducking the George Washington Bridge toll on his motorcycle with several bags of cocaine in his pocket, authorities said.

Then he got arrested elsewhere.

Detectives discovered that 44-year-old Richard L. Boyce of Deepwater was the man they’d released on June 15.

That morning, they stopped his red 2007 Suzuki after Boyce drove it through the toll without paying, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.

Boyce had no license or E-ZPass, and the cycle’s VIN number wasn’t registered anywhere, Pentangelo said.

A search turned up the cocaine bags in Boyce’s right pants pocket, he said.

After he was released with a future court date, “it became clear that [Boyce] supplied the Port Authority police with identification that belonged to his brother,” Pentangelo said. “A warrant was issued for his arrest.”

Yesterday, the PAPD discovered that New Jersey State Police had arrested Boyce on unrelated traffic charges in Camden County. Port Authority Police Officer Jesse Turano went to pick him up.

Boyce was being held on $7,500 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with wrongful impersonation, theft, hindering apprehension and cocaine possession.
