The 30-something Bedminster man parked his silver Honda in the New Jersey-bound lanes before jumping into the Arthur Kill just after 11:30 last night, the Port Authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

Port Authority police contacted the NYPD Harbor Unit, which found the man — alert — near the New Jersey side, Pentangelo said.

They brought him to the Elizabeth Marina, where waiting EMS workers took him to University Hospital in Newark.

No suicide attempts have been reported this year from the Bayonne Bridge or Outerbridge Crossing.

The number of reported George Washington Bridge suicides was 13 (last year there were 16). In addition, 44 would-be jumpers have been stopped, Pentangelo said.
