Officers Fred Corrubia and Kameel Juman found Justin L. Infante stretched out on the south walkway near the New York tower at 1:30 p.m. yesterday after being called by an employee doing maintenance work there, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.
The walkway gate was locked and pedestrians were using the north walkway during the work, he said.
Advised that the walkway was closed, Infante “picked up his backpack and tried to walk past the officers” and “was told he could not continue,” Pentangelo said.
“He immediately became violent,” he added.
Infante was restrained after kicking Corrubia and pushing Juman against the walkway railing, injuring his back, Pentangelo said.
EMTs took him to New York Presbyterian Hospital for evaluation. He was charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
Juman was treated at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.
