Officer William Byrnes was sitting next to her in a teacher’s lounge at Washington School on Wednesday when she grabbed her throat.

“She was unable to speak and was unable to breathe,” Detective Capt. Donald Scorzetti said. “Byrnes asked her if she was choking and she nodded yes.”

He then picked her up off the chair, got behind her and popped out the food — after which the victim began to breathe again, Scorzetti said.

She was checked out by a nurse and didn’t require further medical attention, the captain said.
