Investigation Under Way After Man Dies In Beekman House Fire

BEEKMAN, N.Y. -- A three-alarm fire that ripped through a home in Beekman on Saturday night has claimed the life of an unidentified occupant of the home, state police said Sunday.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that the homeowner of the residence on 71 North White Rock Road reported to a neighbor that her house was on fire and upon returning to her home, her boyfriend was unaccounted for.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that the homeowner of the residence on 71 North White Rock Road reported to a neighbor that her house was on fire and upon returning to her home, her boyfriend was unaccounted for.

Following a search conducted by fire department personnel, the victim’s remains were located within the charred debris. The name of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The State Police were assisted by the following agencies: Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division, Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office, the fire departments of Beekman, Pawling, East Fishkill, Patterson, Lake Carmel as well as Amstar EMS, New York State Electric and Gas and the New York State Department of Transportation.
