CLIFFVIEW PILOT HAS IT FIRST: A panicked friend called police after receiving a text message before dawn this morning that his pal was jumping off the George Washington Bridge, but by then he’d already gone over the side.

“He said he was distraught and was going to jump,” Al Della Fave of the Port Authority Police Department told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

An NYPD Emergency Services Unit boat pulled the dead man’s body from the Hudson River around 5:30 this morning, less than a half hour after he texted his friend, Della Fave said.

PAPD units rushed onto the bridge after getting the friend’s call and found a duffle bag and the cellphone the text came from on the southboound walkway.

The dead man, a California native who moved to the Bronx five years ago, would have turned 25 in two weeks.
