In interviews, the 83-year-old Colley, who was found dead at the 300-acre Windswept Farm estate, was remembered fondly by those who knew her.

Among Colley's friends was North Salem Deputy Supervisor Peter Kamenstein, who called her "a close friend of my family."

"We and all the North Salem community were shocked and saddened to learn of her tragic departure," Kamenstein told Daily Voice. "Lois was an extremely kind and giving person. Her presence will be sorely missed by all who had the good fortune to know her."

Edward Kelly, of Katonah contracting business William A. Kelly & Company, described Colley as lovely and gracious, calling her a "wonderful woman."

Kelly, who knew Colley for more than 40 years, is the husband of former Congresswoman Sue Kelly and a second-generation business owner, which is detailed in a recent article from the Bedford Riding Lanes Association (BRLA).

Daily Voice Founder and CEO Carll Tucker, who also knew Colley and would visit her, said they were "social acquaintances."

"She was a lovely lady," he said.
