'Sexually Violent' Offender Reports Move Into Wingdale

A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of raping and sodomizing a 25-year-old woman using a weapon has reported a move into Dutchess County.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Dutchess residents regarding the residency of 51-year-old Ralph Hankerson, who has moved from Valhalla to a residence on Rock Hill Lane in Wingdale.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Hankerson as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Hankerson had deviate sexual intercourse and sexual contact with his victim in December 1999. He was convicted of two counts of sodomy and sexual abuse in October 2002. Hankerson was also convicted of one count of first-degree rape. Following his conviction, Hankerson was sentenced to 17 years in state prison and is now under the jurisdiction of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.
