Around 6:35 p.m., Alexander Wang, of Cypher Street in Poughquag, walked into the atrium area of Trump Tower at 721 Fifth Ave. -- the current operating base of President-elect Donald Trump -- near the bag screening area which is manned by the Secret Service, said NYPD Officer Brian Magoolagh.
Wang, a student at Baruch College in Manhattan, was searched by Secret Service agents, who found the bag contained a 6-inch knife, a Swiss Army knife, an M80 explosive, handcuffs, an 8-foot-long black rope and a garrote, police said.
He was taken into custody by Secret Service agents and NYPD officers and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of fireworks, police said.
Wang was released on his own recognizance following his arraignment.
In addition to Trump Tower, Donald Trump owns an estate in Bedford, Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor.
The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. TrumpState Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
