Pawling Supervisor Kelly Beats Back Mayor's Write-In Challenge

PAWLING, N.Y. -- Pawling town Supervisor David Kelly has won re-election after defeated a write-in challenge from Pawling village Mayor Robert Liffland, according to unofficial results released on Tuesday by the Dutchess County Board of Elections.

The unofficial results show that Kelly received 780 votes, while an aggregate total of 417 write-in votes were cast.

Although the elections board posts aggregate write-in tallies shortly after polls close, it cannot be immediately determined how many of them were for Liffland. The determination will be made at a later date.

Meanwhile incumbent town Councilmen Philip DeRosa and Michael Montemarano, who ran unopposed, were easily re-elected. Unofficial results show that DeRosa received 880 votes, while Montemarano got 917.

Additionally, the special election to fill out the rest of a term for a Pawling village trustee seat has been determined. Earl Slocum, who ran unopposed, has received 223 votes, unofficial results show.
