Saying the patrols are too aggressive and causing out-of-town visitors to avoid the town, because the town has become known as a place to avoid, residents demanded that the patrols be cut back. Some even questioned the need for a Police Department. But at the same time, another group of residents, said the patrols are needed because of the damaging effect drunk driving has on so many lives, said the Millerton News.
Although no decision was made during the meeting, some residents are asking for a citizens’ committee to be formed to investigate if there is a DWI problem in Millerton and whether the county’s DWI program is effective, added the Millerton News.
