Family and friends are raising funds for Richie Rubino, who suffered life-threatening injuries in the accident, spent two weeks in the ICU at Westchester Medical Center and underwent spinal cord surgery. After the five-hour surgery, Rubino was told he was paralyzed from the chest down.
Rubino was transferred to the Helen Hayes Hospital in Rockland County to start rehabilitation before he returns home to his wife, Debbie, and his two sons, Joe and Nick. However, the home will have to be modified extensively to become handicap accessible.
Donations will go toward medical expenses, renovations for Rubino’s home and assistance for his family.
