The medical staff of Putnam Hospital Center recently donated $5,000 to five food pantries across the county. Each charity received $1,000, and was presented a check by medical staff president Dr. Michael Nesheiwat. The recipients included the Philipstown Food Pantry, Putnam Community Action Partnership (CAP) Food Pantry, Gilead Food Pantry, St. John the Evangelist Food Pantry and Putnam Valley Community Food Pantry.
“On behalf of the medical staff at Putnam Hospital Center, it is our honor and privilege to contribute to these local food pantries and assist them with the great work they do to help people in our community. They are not only the backbone of our community, but the very spirit that this season represents,” Nesheiwat said.
“Putnam Hospital Center is an asset to our local community in ways that many people may not realize,” said Putnam CAP director, Judy Callahan. “In addition to providing excellent health care, the staff is caring and aware of the many needs within the community. Today, Putnam Community Action Partnership was presented with a $1,000 donation from the medical staff in support of our food programs. Healthy eating is an important factor in maintaining good health and the medical staff is helping to ensure that all people, regardless of income, have access to healthy food choices.”
The hospital’s medical staff has contributed to local food pantries during the holidays since 2014.
