For a stress-free party, consider these five tips from Putnam's Wineology to ensure guests are still enjoyinging fun under the sun.
Put the word out so your guests don't make last minute plans to go to the beach or the movies instead. Send out an invitation to include what guests will be eating, what they should wear and -- in case of emergency -- a rain date.
Have enough seats at the outdoor party so every guest is comfortable. If you only have a few patio chairs, bring seats from inside for a quick fix. Dining chairs and bar stools work in a pinch, but renting chairs can also be a quick and cheap option.
Make sure all the guests are entertained. While most adults will be happy enough with a margarita and a place to relax, having a few games for children to enjoy will keep everybody at ease. If you don't have the luxury of a pool, buying something like a piñata and filling it with dollar store items like candy, necklaces and water-guns is sure to keep them happy for hours. A sprinkler, Slip 'n Slide and a volley ball net will do the trick as well.
MC the fun. What's a summer party without music for everybody to enjoy? Purchase outdoor speakers if you don't have them already and stick to the classics that everybody knows and loves. To avoid ditching the party to change the song every five minutes, plan ahead and make a playlist that lasts somewhere between four to five hours long.
Fill the cooler before guests arrive. Make sure the cooler is filled with beer, wine, champagne and everything else needed to please the taste buds of all your guests. Then, just fire up the grill and welcome friends and family to your end-of-the-summer bash.
