“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Dutchess County resident and film, TV and stage icon, Mary Tyler Moore," Molinaro said. "She was a true trailblazer in the entertainment industry yet familiar face to us locally, leaving an indelible mark and impression on all who knew her and enjoyed watching her on the big and small screen.

"She was a role model for women everywhere and a distinct presence in our community.”

Moore had been hospitalized in grave condition at a hospital in Fairfield County, Conn.

She lived in Washington in Eastern Dutchess County, a town that includes the village of Millbrook, before moving to Greenwich.
