- Discounts are offered to members of the military at the restaurants at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in Hyde Park through the Find and Assist Veterans of Record (F.A.V.O.R.) card program. Veterans who have a F.A.V.O.R. card receive a 25 percent discount for lunch or dinner Mondays through Thursdays at The Bocuse Restaurant, American Bounty Restaurant, Ristorante Caterina de' Medici, and Apple Pie Bakery Café. The CIA's commitment to America's service members goes back to its founding in 1946 when the first class of students consisted of World War II veterans studying with the support of the original GI Bill. - Eligible customers who go to an Olive Garden on Wednesday, Nov. 11 can get a free meal which includes an entree from a special Veterans Day menu and unlimited soup or salad.
- Other eateries with a similar deal include T.G.I. Friday's, Red Robin, Denny's, Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, IHOP, and Applebee's.
- Those in need of a caffeine fix can get a free tall coffee provided you show ID proving you're a veteran, active-duty military, or the spouse of military on Veterans Day. Plus, for every Veterans Day Starbucks Card or eGift you activate, Starbucks will donate $5 to the USO.
