14-Year-Old Critically Injured In Lake Ronkonkoma Crash Involving Nesconset Woman A teenager suffered severe injuries in a crash near a Long Island intersection. It happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, in Lake Ronkonkoma. A 56-year-old Nesconset woman was driving a 2024 Volkswagen SUV on Smith Road, near Cenacle Road, when the vehicle struck the 14-year-old boy who was rollerblading in the roadway, according to the Suffolk County Police. A mother is accused of causing a drunken, wrong-way crash on a Long Island highway that killed her 9-year-old son. The early-morning wreck happened on the Southern State Parkway, near exit 42 in Islip, at around 2:20 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. New York State Police said 32-year-old Kerri Bedrick, of Centerport, was driving an SUV west in the eastbound lanes when she caused a head-on crash involving four vehicles. Girl Hospitalized After Incident Involving Mini School Bus On Long Island A 10-year-old girl was hospitalized after she lost her balance while riding a bicycle and struck the side of a mini-school bus. The incident happened around 3:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, in Roosevelt. The bus, which was driven by a 44-year-old woman, was traveling eastbound on West Greenwich Avenue. The girl sustained severe abrasions to both of her legs.  Her 40-year-old mother suffered a right-hand injury while trying to help.
