Paige Fannon of West Islip, New York, was found Thursday, March 6, in Wilton after her family reported her missing. Police began searching for her after a passerby discovered clothing on Schenck's Island.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is investigating the cause of her death.
Since her death was announced, tributes have poured in. Fannon was found dead in the Norwalk River in Wilton on March 6 after being missing for several days.
"Paige, you lit up a room the second you walked in. Your energy, your smile, your laugh were so contagious it was impossible not to want to be around you," one friend posted on Fannon's obituary.
Paige's sense of humor was a common theme in many heartfelt eulogies.
"I'm going to miss us dying laughing at literally everything together. Our humor is seriously one of a kind, and it goes without any words," Heather Freyer wrote. "I'm going to miss us walking up to each other, your smiling face saying, 'Hi, sissy,' and our hugs. I would give anything to hug you one more time. 😢"
Others reflected on her kindness and protective nature.
"I truly don’t have any more words to describe the pain I feel," Jade Batsche wrote. "I know you wouldn’t want me sad, but your emptiness hurts. You were the most amazing protector, and I will never forget that."
A GoFundMe to cover Paige's funeral expenses has raised nearly $14,000.
Fannon's funeral arrangements have not been released as of Thursday, March 13.
