Fleeing Pickup Strikes Woman At Westbury Music Fair: Police
A 63-year-old woman was hospitalized after being hit by a pickup truck that fled the scene in Westbury, Nassau County police announced on Sunday, Feb. 16. The woman had just exited the Westbury Music Fair and was walking up the parking lot roadway when a grey Dodge Ram struck her at 11:05 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, 2025, according to detectives. The driver sped off westbound on Brush Hollow Road after the collision, police said. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment of her injuries, authorities added. A 24-year-old woman killed in a hit-and-run crash while crossing Nesconset Highway in Lake Grove has been identified, Suffolk County Police announced on Sunday, Feb. 2. Sampada Aduulla, of Lake Grove, was struck by an eastbound vehicle near Hallock Road at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, police said. The driver fled the scene. Aduulla was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Bank Robber Sought After Targeting Patchogue Branch
A suspect is on the run after robbing a Long Island bank. The incident occurred in Patchogue, at the TD Bank located near Montauk Highway and Medford Avenue, at around 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28. A man entered the bank and passed a note to a teller demanding cash, Suffolk County Police said. The teller complied and the suspect fled on foot. Nobody was injured. Authorities did not immediately provide a description of the suspect. A camera was rolling when an arsonist set fire to a parked car on Long Island. The incident happened in Central Islip, along Cypress Street, at around 1:45 a.m. on Nov. 22, 2024. A 73-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a pickup truck in East Patchogue, Suffolk County police announced on Saturday, Jan. 18. Gary Green, of Bellport, was riding on Montauk Highway near County Road 101 when a westbound 2013 Ford pickup truck driven by 68-year-old Norman Kurrass, of East Patchogue, hit him at 5:14 p.m., detectives said.
