Popular Restaurant Chain Opens New Location In Patchogue
Don’t let the name fool you; all body types are welcome at this new Long Island restaurant.
Fat Boy’s Burrito opened its latest store in Patchogue, at 74 East Main Street, on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
Founded in 2017 by Tony Othman, the fast-casual Mexican eatery specializes in “fat” burritos, as well as quesadillas, tacos, and street corn.
Customer favorites, according to Yelp, include the Fat Hawaiian Burrito – made with marinated steak, grilled pineapple shrimp, rice, arugula, salsa, onion strings, and Fat Boy’s sauce.

Woman Killed After Being Struck By Tractor-Trailer On Sunrise Highway In Suffolk
Police are investigating after a woman was killed in an overnight Long Island crash.
It happened around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, in North Bellport.
The victim was walking in the right lane of westbound Sunrise Highway (Route 27), east of Exit 55, when she was struck by a 2015 Kenworth tractor-trailer, according to Suffolk County Police.
Maureen Howley, age 77, of Bellport, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead.
The tractor-trailer driver, a 30-year-old East Hampton woman, was not injured.

A Long Island restaurant was shut down after a New York State Liquor Authority compliance check overnight.
In response to community complaints, authorities conducted the detail at Cache Sports Lounge in Patchogue, on East Main Street, at about midnight on Saturday, Aug. 10.
Yoranny Guzman Veras, age 34, of Bay Shore, the owner, was cited for failure to have a valid Place of Assembly Permit and reduced Fire Protection System under Brookhaven Town Code, according to Suffolk County Police.

30-Year-Old From Mastic Dies After Being Found Injured On Moriches Roadway
A local man has died after being found unconscious on a Long Island roadway.
At about 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, a 911 caller reported the injured man lying on the road in Moriches, Suffolk County Police said.
The man, John Ballard, age 30, of Mastic, was rushed to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue.
On Thursday morning, Aug. 8, police reported that Ballard died of his injuries on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
An investigation by Suffolk County Police Major Case Unit detectives determined Ballard was operating an electric skateboard when he fell, causing his injuries.

Days after a beloved Long Island firefighter and aspiring EMT was killed in a hit-and-run crash, police have a suspect in custody.
Christopher Hlavaty, age 22, of East Patchogue, died Monday night, June 10, after his motorcycle was struck by a car near Main Street and Rider Avenue in Patchogue, according to Suffolk County Police.
Hlavaty was taken by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Eight New Yorkers who owned, operated, or were employees of several transportation companies have been accused of scamming the government out of millions of dollars for services never provided.
The indictments were unsealed on Long Island at federal court in Central Islip on Tuesday, June 11.

Fatal Overnight Hit-Run Crash: 22-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Patchogue
One person was killed in an overnight hit-and-run Long Island crash.
The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. Monday, June 10, in Patchogue.
According to Suffolk County Police, the victim was operating a 2008 Suzuki motorcycle and traveling eastbound on Main Street when a westbound car turned left in front of the motorcycle onto Rider Avenue, causing the collision.
