An alleged phone scammer convinced a Long Island woman to fork over tens of thousands of dollars, police said. Nassau County Police said the 65-year-old Roslyn Heights woman contacted the agency on Wednesday, Oct. 16, saying she had been the victim of a scam. She told investigators that she received a call from “Amazon” regarding her iPad and was directed to speak with a purported agent at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to report fraud. Man Nabbed For Forcibly Touching Woman At Long Island Stop & Shop, Police Say
A months-long investigation has led to the arrest of a man who is accused of forcibly touching a woman at a Long Island Stop & Shop. Nassau County Police say the suspect was apprehended late Monday afternoon, Oct. 14, in Uniondale. While inside the store in Merrick located at 2160 Merrick Mall, on Monday, July 8., he forcibly touched a 36-year-old woman before fleeing the store in an unknown direction, Nassau County Police say. A Long Island man has been accused of stalking a teenager after what police say were multiple incidents that occurred between Friday, Oct. 4, and Friday, Oct. 11. The suspect followed a 16-year-old girl while operating a 2013 gray Nissan Rogue in Levittown as she was walking home from school on Wantagh Avenue in the vicinity of Old Jerusalem Avenue, according to Nassau County Police. Child Airlifted, 2 Women Injured In Dog Attack At Long Island Home
A young girl was seriously injured in a dog attack that also hurt two women on Long Island. Emergency crews were called to a Hicksville residence on Lantern Road for a dog bite at around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. Nassau County Police said officers found a girl and two women suffering from bites. They also located two dogs inside the home. A suspected luxury watch thief was nabbed months after allegedly swindling a Long Island jeweler. A month after a 19-year-old man was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver on a Long Island highway, the suspect is still at large. The incident happened on Sunrise Highway in Freeport at around 11:15 p.m. Sept. 14.
