A Hempstead woman employed as a nurse’s aide has been charged with multiple counts of grand larceny after allegedly stealing jewelry from patients at an assisted living facility in Bethpage, police announced on Saturday, Dec. 28.
Kumarie Nazir, 55, of Sunnyside Avenue, worked at The Bristol Assisted Living on Stewart Avenue, where police say she removed several pieces of jewelry from patients in her care on four separate occasions in October: Oct. 8, Oct. 20, Oct. 21, and Oct. 23.

An Elmont man was arrested after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash that left a pedestrian critically injured, Nassau County police announced on Saturday, Dec. 28.
Oscar Guzman, 49, of Biltmore Avenue, was driving a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder westbound on Hempstead Turnpike when he struck a 57-year-old man crossing near Locustwood Boulevard at 6:52 a.m., according to police.
The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition, authorities said.

A woman was arrested for stealing back a German Shepherd she sold earlier this month, authorities in Point Lookout announced on Thursday, Dec. 19.
Elizabeth Dolce, 52, of Oak Beach, is accused of forcibly taking the 4-month-old German Shepherd from a 42-year-old woman who had been walking the dog near Beech Street and Glenwood Avenue around 2:52 p.m., according to Fourth Squad detectives.

Two alleged armed robbers are behind bars months after a victim lost six figures in cash outside a Long Island bank.
Gloria Chamorro, 32, and Luis Lizardo, 45, both of Brooklyn, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and related charges Thursday, Dec. 19.
Nassau County Police said the duo approached a 36-year-old man outside the Bank of America on Jerusalem Boulevard in Hicksville shortly before 9 a.m. on July 29.
Working with three others, Chamorro and Lizardo forcibly removed a bag from the victim that contained $140,000 in cash, police said.

Long Island Man Arrested After Probation Visit Uncovers Drugs, Loaded Gun: Police
A probation visit turned into a significant arrest when police found drugs, cash, and a loaded handgun at a Long Island home.
According to Nassau County Police, the incident occurred on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 8 p.m., when officers were assisting Nassau County Probation with a visit to an East Meadow residence and discovered Benjamin Ramirez Munoz, age 22, of Westbury, living there illegally and violating the terms of his probation.
A further investigation revealed cocaine, heroin, cash, and a loaded .38 caliber handgun inside the home, police said. Munoz was arrested without incident.
