Police are investigating a late-night attempted robbery in the region that caused a minor car crash and left a man injured. Two 18-year-olds are facing charges following an alleged street race in the region that reached speeds over 100 miles per hour before one of the cars crashed. Resident Purposely Sets Fire To Capital Region Home Near Cemetery, Police Say
A 66-year-old man is accused of intentionally setting fire to his home in the region. Emergency crews in Rensselaer County were called at around 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, for a house fire in Troy’s Lansingburgh neighborhood, on 3rd Avenue near 106th Street. The home backs up to the Old Catholic Cemetery. When firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames, according to Troy Police. Crews spent several hours dousing the fire. Crews are responding to a “substantial” water main break in the region that has inundated a residential neighborhood with a torrent of flood water. A 35-year-old man from the region is accused of sexually abusing a minor. Rensselaer County resident Joshua Perry, of Troy, was arrested Thursday, Aug. 31, following a month-long investigation, according to the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office. A man from the region is charged with multiple sex crimes after allegedly abusing two young children and sending them pornography. Rensselaer County resident Daniel Landfear, age 34, of Troy, was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 29, by New York State Police. A 29-year-old man will spend years in federal prison for leading a cocaine trafficking ring that saw bricks of the drug pour into the region from Puerto Rico. Rensselaer County resident Jan Lopez-Colon, age 29, of Troy, was given a 10-year sentence in federal court in Albany on Monday, Aug. 22.
