A Long Island restaurant is permanently closing two weeks after dozens of people were sickened from a foodborne illness incident. The last day in business for Kumo Sushi & Steakhouse in Stony Brook will be Sunday, Sept. 24. "In light of the recent events, we have made the very difficult decision to permanently close the restaurant," the eatery said in a statement released on Saturday, Sept. 23. Bus Crash: NY Charter Company Has 'Satisfactory' Safety Record, But It's Not Perfect
The New York charter bus company involved in a deadly highway crash that killed two educators and left dozens of high school band students hospitalized holds a “satisfactory” safety rating, though records show nearly two dozen maintenance violations in recent years. Three people on board a small plane en route from Martha's Vineyard escaped injury after it crashed on Long Island. The incident happened around 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18 at Fishers Island Airport in Suffolk County. The plane, a Piper PA32 single engine, was traveling to Montauk when the aircraft began to have engine troubles, according to New York State Police. The family of suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann is taking legal action against police who they say turned their New York home upside down in their extensive search for evidence in the case.
