Man Accused Of Beating Victim To Death In Hudson Valley
A resident in the region faces 25 years in state prison after being found guilty by a jury for beating another man to death.
Ulster County resident Joseph Karolys, age 39, of Saugerties, was convicted on Friday, June 14, of manslaughter, assault, and tampering with physical evidence following a two-week jury trial for the death of David "Mickey" Myer, age 66, also of Saugerties, on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2022.
According to Ulster County District Attorney Emmanuel C. Nneji, Myer, and Michael Cummins were driven home by Karolys following a Halloween party at a Greene County Bar.

A woman from the region has been arrested after she was allegedly found to have child pornography.
Following an ongoing investigation, Ulster County resident Jodi Judson, age 54, of Saugerties, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 18 and charged with possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child, a felony.
She was released released on an appearance ticket to reappear in the Town of Saugerties Justice Court on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Hudson Valley Duo Nabbed For Burglary At Warehouse, Police Say
Two Hudson Valley men were nabbed for allegedly stealing six German-made cabinets from a warehouse.
The burglary took place in Greene County around 5:15 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 22 in the town of Cario.
The owner of the property informed state police that six German-made cabinets were missing from the warehouse, said Trooper Steven Nevel.
During the investigation, troopers learned that the cabinets were removed from the warehouse and placed into a U-Haul, Nevel said.

A teen’s reckless driving caused a dump truck to roll over, sent two people to the hospital, and shut down a Hudson Valley highway for hours, police said.
The wreck happened in Ulster County just after noon Friday, Aug. 19, on Old Kings Highway in Saugerties, police said.
Investigators determined that 19-year-old Liam Browne, of Saugerties, was heading southbound in a Jeep Compass when he attempted to pass the dump truck in a no-passing zone near Dave Elliott Road.
