The first incident happened in Albany County just before midnight Saturday, Nov. 11, in Colonie on Central Avenue. A man walked into the roadway near Fuller Road and was struck by a Ford F-150 truck that was driving westbound, according to Colonie Police. The victim, identified as 49-year-old David Herskind, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 48-year-old Albany man who was driving the truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. Box Truck Hits, Kills 41-Year-Old Man On Capital Region Roadway A man was struck and killed while walking on a roadway in the region. The Saratoga County incident happened at around 5 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, on Route 9 in the town of Halfmoon, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Michael Blackburn, age 41, was walking along Route 9 near Sitterly Road when he was struck by a box car. Blackburn, of Clifton Park, was taken to Samaritan Hospital where he died from his injuries, deputies said. Troopers in Schenectady were called just after 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, with reports that a person had suffered severe injuries after being hit by a car on I-890 near the Exit 5 off-ramp, State Police said. Investigators determined that 48-year-old Steven Brunson, of Schenectady, had been walking in the roadway when he was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
