Bill Adding Fencing To Hudson Valley Bridges To Prevent People From Deadly Jumps Moves Forward
A bill aimed at stopping suicides by adding preventive fencing to five Hudson Valley bridges has passed the New York State Senate unanimously. Now, the bill introduced by State Sen. Pete Harckham (D, Mount Kisco), will move to the State Assembly, whose session ends on Friday, June 7, for consideration. Call it a massive misunderstanding. Police now say an attempted kidnapping of a 10-year-old boy in the region actually has an innocent explanation. In Columbia County, Hudson Police were called at around noon Thursday, Nov. 16, with reports of an attempted kidnapping near the Crosswinds Apartments on Harry Howard Boulevard. Tolls To Rise In Just Days On These Bridges In Hudson Valley
Higher toll rates are heading to several New York bridges in the region. According to the New York State Bridge Authority, as part of a four-year plan that began in 2020, the third of four rate hikes is set to take effect as of Sunday, May 1 in the Hudson Valley.
