A woman from the region has claimed a winning lottery prize worth $1 million.
Saratoga County resident Patricia Van Buren, of Clifton Park, hit it big on the Powerball drawing held July 5, matching five numbers and clinching the second prize, New York Lottery announced.
Van Buren received a lump sum payment of $651,000 after required withholdings.
The lucky ticket was purchased in Clifton Park, at the Halfmoon Sunoco on Route 146.
New York’s Powerball game generated over $516.8 million in total sales during fiscal year 2022-2023, according to lottery officials.

In Saratoga County, a Ballston Spa-based trust claimed a $3,000,000 Mega Millions Megaplier prize from the Jan. 10 drawing, New York Lottery announced.
The lucky player matched the first five of the winning numbers, which were 7-13-14-15-18 and Mega Ball 9. The Megaplier can multiply non-jackpot prizes up to five times.

Long Island resident Vipan Kumar, of Plainview, claimed the top prize on the $5,000,000 X Series: 100X scratch-off game, the NY Lottery announced.
Kumar received a single, lump sum payment totaling $3,255,000 after required withholdings.

A lucky New York man has five million reasons to be smiling after hitting it big on a lottery scratcher.
Long Island resident Hernandez Fuentes, of Central Islip, claimed the top prize on the New York Lottery’s Set for Life scratch-off game, which offers players a guaranteed minimum payment of $5,000,000.
Fuentes chose to accept his prize as a one-time lump sum totaling $2,340,401 after taxes, New York Lottery officials said.
