A week after being shot in an ambush attack in which the suspect then killed himself, a police officer in the region is back home with his family. Albany Police officer Jonathan Damphier was released from Albany Medical Center Hospital on Wednesday, April 24, the agency announced. New details have emerged following a police shooting in the region that left the suspect dead and the officer hospitalized. The incident happened at around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, in Albany’s Pine Hills neighborhood, just yards from the College of Saint Rose campus. A toddler is recovering after being shot inside a home in the region. Albany Police said officers were called to Albany Medical Center Hospital at around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, for a 3-year-old boy suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators determined that the boy was with relatives inside a home near Lark Drive and Manning Boulevard when a firearm was discharged inside the residence, striking him in the upper shoulder area. College Of Saint Rose Shutting Down After 103 Years
After more than a century in operations, Albany’s College of Saint Rose is permanently closing amid mounting financial struggles. The school’s board of trustees voted Thursday, Nov. 30, to shut down the college at the end of the Spring 2024 semester. “It is with a heavy heart that the Board decided to close the college at the end of this academic year,” Board Chair Jeffrey Stone said.
