DWI Driver Hits Pedestrian, Leaving Him Critically Injured On I-87: Nysp A pedestrian is in critical condition after being struck by a drunk driver in Queensbury, New York State Police announced on Saturday, Aug. 30. The crash happened at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, at the intersection of Aviation Road and the Exit 19 southbound off-ramp from Interstate 87 in Warren County, according to troopers. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2016 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 25-year-old Brodie C. 1 Killed, 1 Hospitalized In Chain-Reaction I-87 Crash One person was killed and another injured when a Nissan van traveling north on a busy stretch of I-87 rear-ended a bobtail 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was slowed in the right lane of traffic.  The collision occurred in Orange County at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the town of Woodbury. According to New York State Trooper Sgt. Jack Keller, an approaching work zone for line stripping, caused the slow traffic. The collision pushed the tractor-trailer forward and into the rear of a 1997 Freightliner tractor-trailer. The driver of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. …

Bridge Strikes: Police Patrol For Oversized Trucks On New York Parkways To Stop Collisions In order to stop oversized trucks from colliding with bridges and overpasses in New York, police are patrolling parkways and other roadways to monitor for large vehicles and stop the incidents before they can happen.  The initiative was announced by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who said that state police are conducting the bridge hit enforcement campaign between Sunday, Nov. 5 through Saturday, Nov. 11 to prevent oversized vehicles from colliding with overpasses.
