A New York State Police trooper was hospitalized after his cruiser was struck by a vehicle. The Long Island incident happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, on the Southern State Parkway in the town of Hempstead. The trooper had just completed a traffic stop westbound on the Exit 22N ramp and was getting into the patrol vehicle when it was hit by the passing motorist. A New York man accused of murdering the mother of his child should’ve been locked up years ago, his own relatives insist. Long Island resident Brenda Guadalupe Alfaro-Alcantara, age 29, was found with multiple stab wounds in the basement of her Hempstead home on Botsford Street at around 8:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5. A man who allegedly robbed a Long Island Walmart was also charged with violating Nassau County's controversial new mask law. The suspect was wearing a black ski mask when he entered the store located in East Meadow at 2465 Hempstead Turnpike at around 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 and began concealing merchandise in his bag. A New York State Police trooper was hospitalized for possible opioid exposure while responding to a suspected overdose crash on a state highway.
