Just a week after a coastal weather event that brought a deluge of rain and flash flooding to New York, Gov. Kathy Hochul is again warning residents to make preparations for more heavy precipitation that could threaten already-saturated areas. Storm System Will Bring Drenching Downpours, Strong Wind Gusts: Here's Timing
A storm system on track for the first day of fall will be packed with heavy rain and wind gusts between 30 and 40 miles per hour in parts of the region, according to the National Weather Service. The system, which will arrive Saturday morning, Sept. 23, and continue well into the evening, will stem from a tropical area of low pressure off the Florida peninsula. Flash Flood Threat: Here's Projected Timing For System Packed With Storms, Heavy Rain
An approaching frontal system will bring thunderstorms and heavy rain that could cause flash flooding. The system will arrive from west to east early Thursday afternoon, Aug. 10, and continue to move through into the evening. Heavy rain is expected to begin in the New York City area, Hudson Valley, and Capital regions, and western Connecticut around midday Thursday and later in the afternoon in Massachusetts and eastern Connecticut. Storm Update: Tornado Watch Issued For These NY Counties
As rounds of showers and storms sweep through the region, a Tornado Watch has now been issued for parts of New York. The watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7 in the counties shown in yellow. In New York, those counties are: Sullivan Broome Chenango Delaware Otsego Tioga Severe thunderstorms are expected to continue through the afternoon and in Monday evening. Here's Timing For Thunderstorms Taking Aim At Region Ahead Of Approaching Cold Front
Showers and thunderstorms will sweep through the region ahead of an approaching cold front. Higher levels of humidity levels will help to ignite the storms Friday, Aug. 4. Storm activity is possible starting around midday before becoming likely late in the afternoon and in the evening. Rain will be heavy at times with some drenching downpours.
