Mohammed Islam agreed to settle a civil complaint from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Brooklyn federal court on Monday, Dec. 18. A former employee at the US Department of Energy (DOE) has admitted to accepting thousands of dollars in bribes in exchange for securing nearly $1 million in federal contracts for a New York business. A New York-based jewelry chain will pay $34.2 million as part of a settlement with 18 states for “deceiving and defrauding” more than 46,000 service members and veterans, according to the New York Attorney General’s Office.
