Crews Responding To Reports Of Injured Swimmer At Capital Region Waterfall Where Teen Drowned Emergency crews are responding to reports of an injured swimmer at a popular waterfall in the region. Medics in Greene County were called at around 5:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14, for a swimmer in distress at Fawn’s Leap, located near the hamlet of Haines Falls in the Town of Hunter. Crews from the Haines Falls Fire District found the swimmer with injuries, according to police radio traffic. The Greene County incident happened at around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Fawn’s Leap, located near the hamlet of Haines Falls in the Town of Hunter. Greene County Sheriff’s officials said a group of teens, all from Brooklyn, was swimming in Kaaterskill Creek when a 16-year-old boy and a friend jumped from a ledge at the top of the falls.
